We design sustainable places that are beautiful, culturally and ecologically contextual, and a joy to be in.
Our Beginning
Crystal Gaudio’s career began at CMG in San Francisco, establishing a strong design foundation with a sustainable building focus. Then she took an opportunity to be lead Landscape Architect at the Prospect Park Alliance, building the LeFrak Center and Leon Levy Esplanade at Lakeside, Vanderbilt Playground and the Zucker Natural Exploration Area. After seven exciting years, she broke off and founded Rubus Landscape Architecture. Licensed in NY & CT and a certified WBE firm in both, Crystal has had exciting opportunities to partner with planning firms and work independently on design-build projects focusing on local materials and habitat-oriented planting.
“Our Projects include: trail heads, public parks, nature-based play areas, historic landscapes, and beautiful habitat gardens.”
— Crystal gaudio, founder
Rubus was honored to be part of the team that designed the Anne O’C. Albrecht Nature Playscape in St. Louis’ Forest Park. “Funded by donors to Forest Park Forever and completed in partnership with the City of St. Louis, this is a 17-acre experiential play space with natural landscapes that include native and diverse species. The goal: Encourage visitors — especially kids — to connect with nature as they engage their senses as they explore, discover and learn. “
