“native plants in westwood” - 60 minute talk

The Guilford Land Conservation Trust and Guilford Free Library & later the Leete’s Island Garden Club sponsored this free lecture for the general public. In this talk I provided photos and descriptions of a variety of native trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants common to Westwoods and available for purchase in retail nurseries. Our goal is to enrich people's experience while hiking in Westwoods as well as offer ideas for adding native plants to residential gardens.

How to Build Pollinator Gardens & Meadows - 60 minute talk

The Schiller Shoreline Institute for Lifelong Learning sponsored a talk on how lawn areas can be transformed into pollinator gardens, meadows or even woodlands.  By using local examples, I described a step by step process for building a pollinator garden / meadow including: choosing a site, preparing the site, picking a seed mix, seeding, establishing and maintaining this rich landscape.
