project team & scope:
Forest Park Forever hired Rubus along with Interboro Partners, David Mason + Associates Engineers, Citizen Carpentry and a crew of local St. Louis community activists and horticulturalists to design a Natural Playscape in the middle of Forest Park, a 10,000 acre urban park in St. Louis MO. Nine unique play destinations are connected with an ADA accessible path through restored prairie and woodlands.
What we’ve accomplished:
1.
Restored 17 acres of turf and trees into native prairie and woodland while inviting visitors to engage in nine unique natural play spaces that highlight ecological features found in St. Louis.
2.
Created a free, ADA acesssible destination within Forest Park for school groups, community groups and families to learn about and engage with nature in a friendly and inviting way.
3.
Interboro lead a thorough engagement process to incorporate design ideas from hundreds of local school children and residents, Rubus worked with local horticulturalist and and Forest Park Forever Horticulture staff to ensure an workable and successful plant pallet & designed the concept grading of the ADA path the ensure a comfortable stroll that is light on the existing topography and David Mason Associates provided civil engineering services and local supervision of contractors during construction.
